Slovak castles in miniatures

There were some 250 castles in Slovakia in the past. Some of them were reconstructed, many of them are in ruins and others have simply vanished. If you would like to know what they looked like some 300 – 500 years ago in their full glory, when their masters ruled the regions with their reigns forever memorialized in history, legends and tales, do not miss the opportunity to visit the castle miniatures park in the village of Podolie.
Matúšovo kráľovstvo – Mathew’s Kingdom miniature park – is located in an open area in the village of Podolie, district of Nové Mesto nad Váhom. It is an open-air park featuring miniature models of Slovak castles and historical monuments in a high fidelity reconstruction 1:50 to scale.
Going by bike, you will get to Podolie from Piešťany up the road leading to Nové Mesto nad Váhom. At Vŕšok, turn to Orvište and Ostrov through Kláštorská Street. Outside Ostrov, the trail connects to the Small Carpathian Cycling Artery (Malokarpatská cyklomagistrála). The target area is located near the local elementary school along the main road on the left hand side, roughly in the middle of the village. It is 15 km from Piešťany. The miniature park is open for the public in July and August. In May, June and September the park opens only for organized groups and excursion visits announced in advance.
